CAA ensures sustainable cocoa production through offering the farmer a support package that consists of capacity building, training and certification. All members are required to conform to specific social, economic, bio diverse and environmental, health and safety, traceable and transparent requirements. Once these requirements are met, they lead to an improvement of the members’ life. It makes the cocoa more valuable as a higher premium price for the certified cocoa beans can be negotiated on the international market. This premium gives members a higher income. CAA is well known as the highest premium payer to farmers amongst its competitors. In 2014, this was 23.80GHC per each bag of certified cocoa.

CAA has teamed up with Dutch based certification programme UTZ Certified (formerly UTZ Kapeh) and the Rainforest Alliance to ensure sustainable practices. The Association was awarded a UTZ Certified certificate in 2009 and 2010. It is the first cocoa association with a double certification of UTZ Certified and Rainforest Alliance since 2009.
